There is huge buzz in the tech world as Google has announced hefty price cuts on its Pixel 8 and Pixel 7a series across India.
This comes right after the much-anticipated launch of the Pixel 9 lineup by the company.
With new Pixel 9 devices making their way into the markets, Google is also introducing some juicy deals on last year’s models to make them more pocket-friendly for tech enthusiasts and budget-minded consumers.
Of the price drops, the largest is that of the Pixel 8 Pro, now down a whopping ₹7,000.
If this high-end variant has been on your radar, the 128GB model drops to ₹99,999 from ₹1,06,999, while the 256GB variant comes down from ₹1,13,999 to ₹1,06,999.
It’s not that the price cutting has left out the standard Pixel 8 either.
The price of its 128GB variant has been slashed by ₹4,000, making it now available at a price point of ₹71,999 instead of ₹75,999.
For the 256GB model, it drops ₹5,000 to ₹77,999 from its earlier tag of ₹82,999.
The Pixel 8a also sees its price drop from ₹52,999 to ₹49,999. Not forgetting the Pixel 7a also dropped by ₹2,000, which was at ₹43,999 and now stands at ₹41,999.
The entire Pixel 8 lineup is equipped with the latest Google Tensor G4 chipset, which loads huge performance improvements and Gemini AI updates that do not come with the older Tensor G2 chip on the Pixel 7a.
In what could turn out to be a major development, Google has announced that the first batch of Pixel 8 devices made in India has started rolling off production lines.
One can only imagine how serious Google is about this market and the attempt to replicate the success that Apple and Samsung have got at the premium end.
Part of a broader strategy aimed at ramping up local production and making its devices more accessible to Indian consumers.
This year, though, sees a visible change as Google is bringing its entire Pixel 9 lineup to India.
Besides the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, this expanded launch includes devices like the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 2 Pro, which hitherto haven’t made their way to the Indian market. While last year Google did bring the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, it held back the much more expensive Pixel Fold from reaching Indian consumers.
So, if you’re looking to buy a new smartphone, this is a great opportunity to keep in mind the discounted prices of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 7a.
At these prices, you can get a premium device while keeping your wallet full, just as the new Pixel 9 series is about to come your way.
