KEAM 2024: Option Registration Begins for MBBS and BDS Admissions in Kerala

If you are one of those medical aspirants waiting for securing a seat in MBBS and BDS courses offered in Kerala, then your moment of time has finally come. Finally, the formal procedures of the first phase of allotment activities have been initiated for the year 2024 by the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala. The process has started formally on the official website www.cee.kerala.gov.in.

Registration of options for MBBS and BDS courses shall be done online by eligible candidates whose names are in the State Medical Rank List.

On the website, detailed information pertaining to the participating institutions is given, which includes 12 Government Medical Colleges and 17 Private Self-financing Medical Colleges, as well as 6 Government Dental Colleges and 20 Private Self-financing Dental Colleges.

You will also get details regarding fee structures, reservation policies, and other details you may need from the notification on the CEE website.

How to Register Your Options

First things first—candidates need to pay the Option Registration Fee to the CEE. One can pay this either online or through any Head Post Office in Kerala.

For most candidates, the registration fee is Rs 5,000; if you come under SC/ST/OEC categories, though, you’re only required to pay Rs 500.

This is not a formalistic fee; it shall get adjusted against your tuition if you are allotted a seat.

However, note that if at all you decide to drop the seat allotted to you after admission, or fail to join within the stipulated time, then the fee submitted by you shall be treated as penalty, and such fee shall not be refunded.

Key Dates to Remember

Option registration is now open till 11:59 PM on August 26, 2024. The provisional allotment list shall be published by the CEE on August 27, and the final list on August 29.

After you confirm your seat, a token fee needs to be paid to the CEE. For Government Medical/Dental Colleges, the full fee has to be remitted. If you’re admitted to a Self-financing Medical College, it will cost you Rs. 1 lakh.

If you are allotted NRI seats, be prepared to pay Rs. 5 lakhs. The token fee for Self-financing Dental Colleges is also Rs. 1 lakh. SC/ST/OEC candidates need not pay the deposit amount unless they are admitted under the Minority/NRI quota.

After the final allotment, you’ll have from August 30 to 4 PM on September 5 to join your assigned college.

Make sure that the admission details, after approval by the college authorities, get submitted by 5 PM on September 5 through the OAMS system.
