What is NYS Excelsior Pass wallet app?
NYS Excelsior Pass wallet App is a mobile application which is sponsored by the State of New york.
This Application is nothing but proof that you are vaccinated from the Covid-19 vaccine or in case it didn’t receive your vaccination and Negative test report, you are not Corona Virus positive.

At the time of writing this post, This Application provides you three different kind of passes-
- COVID-19 Vaccination Pass: This is a pass for the people who received the Covid-19 vaccination.
- COVID-19 PCR Test Pass: This Pass confirms that you are not infected with Coronavirus. If your PCR test result comes Covid Negative then you can get this Pass.
- COVID-19 Antigen Test Pass: This Pass confirms that you were not infected by Covid-19 in the past. It is different from PCR test, in PCR test you will be testing that you are currently positive or not but antigen test to know you were infected by SARS-COV-2 in the Past.
Just like the Mobile Airline Boarding Pass, this is Digital Pass.
Since the thing is returning back to Normal, The New York state is now allowing certain events.
The Pass is to ensure that you are not exposed to Noval Corona Virus and safe to attend the event.

How to get an Excelsior pass
The New York Citizen can also generate passes using their web browser and heading over to https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/excelsior-pass.
However Using the mobile app, they can also store it digitally on their mobile phone.
Here is the Process to Generate NYS Excelsior pass online-
- Head over to https://epass.ny.gov/home.
- Scroll Down to the Bottom of the Page and Hit the GET STARTED button.
- You’ll see the Authorization to Disclose there, Read it and Click on Accept button to proceed.
- Enter your First Name, Your Last name, Date of Birth, Zip Code.
- Click on I’m not a robot, to confirm you are not a robot.
- Click on the continue button.
Follow all of the instructions mentioned on that site and the Pass will be issued to you.
However, to get Covid-19 Pass, there are few requirements.
Requirements/Conditions for Pass
Not everyone will be able to excelsior pass.
If you want the Pass to attend the events, here are requirements that you must fulfill one of those conditions-
- You had the PCR Test administered in New York State last 3 days and the result should be Negative.
- You are already fully vaccinated and it is more than 15 days when you get your last shot.
- A person who has an antigen test is also eligible, just sure it is within the last 6 hours’ time.
You are only eligible if Those tests and Vaccination administered in New York State.
NYS Excelsior pass Expiration
NYS Excelsior pass expires after a time (Depending on the type of pass you have).
Here is the Expiration time for each of them
- 180 Days after issue – If You have a COVID-19 Vaccination Pass, it will expire after 180 days after 15 days of vaccination.
- Third-Day after Test – This expiration time is for the COVID-19 PCR Test Pass. After Midnight on the third day your pass expires.
- After 6 hours from the test – This expiry time frame for COVID-19 Antigen Test Pass.
Why does my excelsior pass expire?
Your excelsior pass can expire only after an hour after it issued to you.
This expiry time is not from the Date/Time of issuing the pass but from the time after the test is administered.

For example, you take the COVID-19 Antigen Test and apply for a pass after 4 hours your pass will be valid for the next 2 hours only Since COVID-19 Antigen Test Pass expires After 6 hours from the test.
