This is a new limitation which is imposed by Twitter on their users, where they are only able to read a certain amount of feeds daily. 

This also caused an issue where Tweetdeck not working properly before they decide to hide that as well behind the paywall.

Here are the new Twitter limitations –

  • Free users who haven’t verified and don’t have a Twitter Blue subscription are limited to reading only 600 feeds per day. 
  • If you have an unverified account, which you created recently, you will able to read only 300 tweets per day.
  • Twitter Blue accounts can read up to 6,000 tweets a day.

Musk also posted that these numbers are only temporary and they are soon going to increase the number of tweets each user can read very soon.

According to reports, this amount will be soon 8,000 for verified accounts, 800 for unverified accounts, and 400 for new unverified accounts.

So, How can I fix the Rate limiting issue on Twitter?

This isn’t exactly an outage or error, this is an intended limitation by the company, and when the mobile app does that customer does has little choice in that regard.

The only option left for you is if you are an unverified user and want to read more tweets, you have to subscribe to Twitter Blue.

If paying money to Twitter is no big deal for you, here is how you can sign up for a Twitter Blue subscription to increase the rate limit –

  1. First, click on the hamburger icon on your Twitter app.
  2. Tap on “Twitter blue”. On PC this is labeled as “Verified”. 
  3. Choose the account type – Individual or Organization. 
  4. Now hit the Subscribe button.
  5. Choose tenure, either monthly or Annually.
  6. Use any available payment method to pay for your Twitter subscription.

Once your phone number and account got verified the limits will be increased for you.
